Profile: Brilliant, empathic and utterly lacking in conscience, Protoform X is the greatest Cybertronian advocate of freedom - his freedom. Although confined for almost his entire existence in life-support equipment and monitoring tubes, he has a spark and therefore possesses the capacity to think and reason, and can speak the root-language of Cybertron. From this mean beginning, Protoform X has grown into an intellectual giant; he absorbs information like a sponge and could, if he so desired, argue philosophy and morality with the greatest minds of Cybertron. After all, he has had very little to do for most of his life except think.
It has been said that the only things Protoform X understands are pain and torment, preferably those of another. In truth, his ability to sense the emotions of others, combined with his ethical sensibilities, make love and compassion sickening to him. He considers a happy, contented being to be a fool who is unwilling or unable to confront the fact that the universe is a cruel place, and that life is both brutal and unfair. Thusly, he feeds upon the pain and fear of other Cybertrons, not in response to the pain and fear he has felt in the past - the need to empower himself by visiting his own torture on others - nor from a socially-maladapted lack of empathy, but from too great an empathy and too strong a sense of ethics. He is truly a dark glass to the Maximal soul.
Protoform X looks upon other living beings as prisoners of their own minds, programmed both by their creators and the societies they live in. He considers himself to be the sole being in existence who is truly free, and that morality is a foolish waste of possibilities. Second only to freedom, his mind is concerned with the concept of choice. He knows that he could repent, submit to reprogramming, and become a valued Maximal citizen or a great Predacon warrior, but instead chooses to live outside of society as a feared monster, amongst the ghosts and legends, because only there does he feel that he is truly free. He thinks of himself a monstrosity and abomination by choice, and considers the Maximals' fear of him to be a fear of the true freedom that he represents.

Abilities: Aside from his great intelligence, Protoform X possesses an immortal spark, which makes him virtually indestructible. His self-repair systems are unsurpassable, and even the most mortal-seeming of wounds will heal in a matter of minutes. He also possesses an empathic ability that allows him to detect the presence of other beings and to sense their emotions. As a Guardian-class protoform, he is a giant, and possesses strength far greater than could be expected of even such a powerful body. He is utterly fearless and, lacking the slightest shred of morality, is capable of any act, especially when he feels his freedom is threatened. Protoform X's total lack of morality or conventional ethics have lead him to the ultimate expression of his self-imposed monstrosity; he is an eater of sparks, and his vitality and intelligence increase with each spark he consumes.

Weaknesses: Protoform X fears and hates captivity above all things. He is more of an artist than a tactician, and lacks the native cunning of a Predacon that would aid him greatly in his outlaw life. Despite his great intelligence, Protoform X lacks the socialization and life-experience to cope with innovation and unusual situations. His only defence against the shock of the new is the laughter of one unable to reconcile what he sees before him, and the extreme violence which characterizes his response to anything he finds threatening. Protoform X is slow-moving, has no weapons, no friends, no allies and cannot transform.
