Koiverse Map of Cybertron

The purpose of this project was to produce a complete map of Cybertron. The map shown in the Transformers: Ultimate Guide only showed half the globe - and, because of the curvature of the globe, only really showed maybe a fourth of the surface of Cybertron. Taking the TF:U map and the two G1 cartoon stock shots of Cybertron, I drew them onto a globe [a foil-covered ball]. This gave me a relatively sound 3D map of Cybertron.

However, the problem I had then was turning the 3D object into a 2D map. I toyed with 3D rendering programs. I messed around with string and calipers. I tried and failed to understand Mercator projection. In the end, after what feels like most of a year, I got my fins on a digicam and photoed the Cybertron globe from six angles - north pole, south pole and four views around the equator.

There were a few problems putting this map together - the TF:U map shows Cybertron in the Golden Age and the stock shots of Cybertron show it in the modern day. So there's been a bit of kludging to say the least.

A list of the city-states of Cybertron can be found here, and a list of the Sectors of Cybertron can be found here.

Boreal View
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron from above the North Pole.
Austral View
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron from above the South Pole.
West/East hemisphere
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron from above the border between the Western hemisphere [left] and Eastern hemisphere [right].
Western hemisphere
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron on the Western hemisphere, with the West-East border as seen in the third picture on the far right. Yes, this is actually just the TF:U map. It was easier that photoing the globe and redrawing it at an ever-so-slightly different angle.
East/West hemisphere
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron from above the border between the Eastern hemisphere [left] and the Western hemisphere [right]. Unfortunately the globe was a bit askew so the south pole is at about five o'clock and the north pole at about eleven o'clock.
Eastern hemisphere
This view looks down on the globe of Cybertron on the Eastern hemisphere.

Boreal View
This version of the map shows Cybertron in the very late Golden Age, with the major powers picked out. Red indicates the Iaconic Autobot geopolitical group, the Polar Torus.
Austral View
Orange indicates the Kaonic Murion political group, the Orbital Torus.
West/East hemisphere
Bright purple indicates the Decepticon state of Polyhex.
Western hemisphere
Dim purple indicates the few Liege-ruled states.
East/West hemisphere
Green indicates the Tri-Peninsular Torus, a Murion political group.
Eastern hemisphere
Blue indicates the Murion Torus.

Boreal View
This version of the map shows it in the G1 "present day" - 1984-1986. Red indicates the Autobot-controled area of the planet.
Austral View
Decepticon Sector boundaries do not adhere to the Golden Age city-state borders.
West/East hemisphere
Decepticon Sectors tend to be bigger and less straggly than Golden Age city-states.
Western hemisphere
The Sector numbering roughly follows the Decepticon's path of conquest across Cybertron.
East/West hemisphere
The Decepticons do not have a Sector 14; that number is used to refer to the area missing due to the Rift.
Eastern hemisphere
The garish colours will hopefully make it easier to distinguish one state from another.
