VISION QUEST PRIME #1 Unnamed First Prime |
Apparently the first Matrix bearer of the cartoon, this bearded old blue Cybertronian was presumably constructed by the Quintessons. He may have been from the same first generation as Alpha Trion, or from later, we have no idea. Five Chosen Ones seem to have lived and died during his lifetime, which suggests either he lived a long time or they didn't. He seems to have lived and died completely under Quintesson rule. The Chosen Ones: Unnamed Chosen One #1: If the Chosen Ones are Cybertron's natural defence against Unicron, who built this guy? Unnamed Chosen One #2: This one looks pretty miserable. Unnamed Chosen One #3: This one just looks plain uncomfy. Unnamed Chosen One #4: This guy has personality. Unnamed Chosen One #5: This guy looks more like Rodimus Prime than Rodimus Prime does. |
VISION QUEST PRIME #2 Unnamed Second Prime Unnamed Second Prime in combat |
Apparently the second Matrix bearer of the cartoon, this spikey blue Cyclonus look-alike was created from the possibly-not-quite dead remains of another Cybertronian in a Quintesson smelter. He was used by the Quintessons as a gladiator, fighting against other Cybertronians [including, apparently, the future sixth Prime] before rebelling and attacking his Quintesson masters. He was killed, but his death seems to have been the spark that ignited the rebellion against the Quintessons. |
VISION QUEST PRIME #3 Unnamed Third Prime Unnamed Third Prime, second shot |
Apparently the third Matrix bearer of the cartoon, this odd-looking blue Cybertronian seems to have led the war against the Quintessons. The animation is not precise but the first shot [from the beginning of the war] and the second [from after the Quintessons had been evicted from Cybertron] seem to be the same mechanism. Despite is appearance he has a young and vigorous voice. |
VISION QUEST PRIME #4 Unnamed Fourth Prime and Sixth Chosen One |
Apparently the fourth Matrix bearer and sixth Chosen One of the cartoons, this Rodimoid Cybertronian appears to have taken over from Vision Quest Prime #3 during peacetime or at the start of the second Cybertronian war - the first one against the Decepticons. He was killed in combat. |
VISION QUEST PRIME #5 Unnamed Fourth Prime passing Matrix to Unnamed Fifth Prime |
Apparently the fifth Matrix bearer of the cartoon, this mechanism seems to have led the Autobots against the Decepticons before dying during a Decepticon attack. |
VISION QUEST PRIME #6 Unnamed Sixth Prime Unnamed Sixth Prime in altmode Unnamed Sixth Prime being shot by Megatron Unnamed Sixth Prime Prime passing Matrix to Alpha Trion |
Apparently the sixth Matrix bearer of the cartoon, this mechanism sounds awfully like Ironhide and appears to have been the opponent of Vision Quest Prime #2 at the moment he chose to incite rebellion. He led the Autobots in the second war, and presided over the "invention" of transformation. This is strange as, during the duel with Vision Quest Prime #2, not only Vision Quest Prime #6 but also Vision Quest Prime #2 have transformation details such as wheels as part of their structures. Possibly they did not so much invent transformation as rediscover it after the Quintessons took the secret with them. This Prime led the Autobots during a considerable period of peace-time - presumably the Golden Age - until he was shot and killed by the newly-constructed Megatron. Apparently dying on the spot he was shot, Alpha Trion appears out of nowhere to take the Matrix into hiding whilst Megatron ... stands and watches? Presumably either Prime #6 either escaped from Megatron before dying or Megatron shot him from sufficient range that he couldn't get to Prime #6 to finish him off before Alpha Trion nabbed the Matrix. Or was Megatron fleeing from Prime #6? There are many possiblities. |
ALPHA TRION Alpha Trion just before creating Optimus Prime |
Alpha Trion hide the Matrix in his possession for what may have been quite some time. Certainly he seems to have changed his appearance. |
OPTIMUS PRIME Orion Pax The newly-created Optimus Prime emerges from Alpha Trion's workshop Optimus Prime, dying |
Megatron attacks a small city and the flung-9-million-years-into-the-past Aerialbots save a young Autobot named Orion Pax from dying. They happen, by lucky chance, to run into Alpha Trion, who repairs Orion Pax and stuffs the Matrix in him to create Optimus Prime. Optimus hangs onto the Matrix for a solid 9 million years until being mortally wounded by Megatron in 2005. Oddly enough, Megatron - the only other person on Cybertron who might know Alpha Trion has the Matrix and is coincidentally attacking the city Alpha Trion is in - is not in the slightest bit interested in the Matrix. He's just after energon. |
HOT ROD Hot Rod catches the Matrix |
Dying, Optimus drops the Matrix. Hot Rod catches it and passes it to Optimus' chosen successor. |
ULTRA MAGNUS |
Named his successor by Optimus, Ultra Magnus reluctantly takes up the role of Autobot leader and Matrix holder, although apparently not Prime. He hangs onto the Matrix for about six hours. Shot down on the planet of Junk, Ultra Magnus tries to defend his troops by unleashing the Matrix at Galvatron [possibly prompted by the Matrix itself, recognising Galvatron as herald of Unicron?]. He doesn't manage, and the Sweeps shoot the limbs off his outer armour, leaving him disabled. |
GALVATRON Galvatron catches the Matrix Galvatron within Unicron, with Matrix |
Galvatron takes the Matrix from Ultra Magnus and attempts to use it to control Unicron. He fails and is swallowed alive. |
RODIMUS PRIME Rodimus Prime opens the Matrix |
After the Autobots crash their stolen Quintesson craft into Unicron's eye [the Quintessons build damn tough ships!] Hot Rod is lost inside Unicron's innards, where he meets and battles Galvatron. Whislt being strangled, Hot Rod pulls the Matrix from its chain around Galvatron's neck and opens it. It metamorphs him from Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime, with Optimus Prime's disembodied voice acclaiming him to the role of leader, and the Matrix blows Unicron into moon-sized chunks. Later Rodimus goes on a vision quest within the Matrix - achieved by giving himself a near-death experience - where he sees the list of Unnamed Primes above. Whilst he is apparently dead, Arcee points out that Rodimus can't be dead because the Matrix hasn't emerged from his body to seek a new bearer. Rodimus hangs onto the Matrix into 2006, where he encounters an apparently not dead after all Optimus aboard the Autobot space mausoleum. Rodimus gives the Matrix back to Optimus - despit Optimus being damaged, incoherent and obviously in a lot of pain - and reverts to Hot Rod. |
OPTIMUS PRIME Optimus desperate to avoid the Matrix Optimus returns the Matrix to Hot Rod |
Optimus carries the Matrix for the next day or so as he's used by the Quintessons to lure the Autobots into a fatal trap. Hot Rod, realising Optimus is off the rails since Optimus tried to kill him by dropping the mausoleum into a star, attempts to physically wrest the Matrix from Optimus. Optimus is too strong for Hot Rod to overcome, despite Optimus imploring Hot Rod to defeat him. Eventually either the Matrix or Optimus' own personality overcome the Quintesson mind-control, and Optimus gives the Matrix back to Hot Rod. Hot Rod reverts to Rodimus Prime and Optimus staggers off to die heroically for the second time. |
RODIMUS PRIME |
Rodimus Prime keeps the Matrix until probably mid-late 2007, when he is run off the road by Wildrider and Dead End. The Matrix mysteriously falls out of Rodimus for no apparent reason, causing him to turn back into Hot Rod. |
DEAD END Dead End picks up the Matrix |
Dead End picks up the Matrix and holds it for about three seconds, taking the Silver in the All-Continuity Universe's Shortest Matrix Holder since G2 Megatron has the Gold. |
WILDRIDER Wildrider holds the Matrix |
Wildrider takes the Matrix from Dead End, carries it to Charr and gives it to Galvatron. |
GALVATRON Galvatron gets the Matrix again Galvatron sees ghosts Not only Galvatron sees the ghosts |
Galvatron installs the Matrix in his cannon, hoping to make it more powerful. Instead he ends up summoning several Autobot ghosts, including Optimus Prime, who aren't very happy. Galvatron gives the Matrix to Scourge to dispose of. |
SCOURGE Scourge gets the Matrix Scourge gets ... hives? |
Scourge decides he'd rather hang onto the Matrix and installs it in his chest. This gives him the worst case of robotic hives ever and drives him slightly nuts. He attacks and defeats Galvatron and Cyclonus, then legs it to Earth for a quick rampage through Japan. Hot Rod beats him up and takes the Matrix back, returning to being Rodimus Prime once more. Scourge gets a beating from Galvatron when he catches up. |
RODIMUS PRIME Hot Rod takes the Matrix back after beating up a Matrix-bearer for the second time this season |
Rodimus carries for the Matrix until the Hate Plague strikes. Interestingly, althought Rodimus is carrying the Matrix whilst infected with the Hate Plague, the Matrix seems unaffected. |
OPTIMUS PRIME Optimus takes the Matrix from Rodimus Optimus opens the Matrix to cure the Hate Plague |
Brought back to life by Sky Lynx and a Quintesson [never a good thing], Optimus covers himself in anti-Hate Plague armour and pummels Rodimus unconscious so he can get the Matrix back. Optimus then goes on a vision quest within the Matrix. He seems to do this much more easily than Rodimus, either because he's had the Matrix for so much longer or because he's been dead twice recently. Optimus then uses the collected wisdom of more than eleven million years to cure the Hate Plague, leaving the Matrix depleted. Optimus continues to be afflicted by visions from the Matrix, mostly involving Alpha Trion talking to him. Alpha Trion has been dead for more than 20 years after merging with Vector Sigma. |
VECTOR SIGMA Optimus hallucinating Optimus merges the Matrix shell with Vector Sigma |
In search of answers, Optimus merges the Matrix shell with Vector Sigma so that he can commune with Alpha Trion's ghost. The Matrix effectively ceases to exist. |
PRIMACRON'S ASSISTANT Primacron's Assistant The Matrix |
This being made several claims. Firstly, that it was Primacron's Assistant. Secondly, that Primacron created Unicron. Thirdly, it rather heavily implied that it was connected to or possibly was the Matrix. Given the enormous weight of canon leaning against these claims, it is only possibly to conclude that this being was a total filthy liar. |
